eFoil, jet ski or Seabob? What to actually book in Ibiza

2026-08-20 · 3 min read

Three toys dominate the Ibiza waterfront, and most people book on the basis of a photograph

rather than on what they will actually enjoy. Here is the honest version, including the

cases where we tell people not to book the expensive one.

The short answer

book again

Jet ski

What it is: a motorbike on water. You twist a throttle and hold on.

Learning curve: none. Anyone can ride one in 30 seconds.

Who it suits: groups who want a laugh, people with an hour to kill, anyone who wants a

guaranteed good time with no risk of frustration.

The catch: in Ibiza you are usually restricted to a marked zone or a guided convoy, so

the fantasy of blasting off to Formentera is rarely the reality. And because there is

nothing to learn, there is nothing to come back for. Almost nobody books a second jet ski

session in the same week.

Seabob

What it is: a handheld underwater scooter. You hold on and it pulls you along, above or

below the surface.

Learning curve: near zero, and it is genuinely lovely in clear water.

Who it suits: snorkellers, children, anyone nervous about balance, and anyone with a

boat parked over a nice reef. On the Formentera sandbanks it is superb.

The catch: it is passive. You are being pulled rather than doing anything. It is also

the worst value for a full hour — most people have had their fun in 25 minutes.

eFoil

What it is: an electric surfboard on a hydrofoil. Once you are fast enough, the board

lifts clear of the water and you fly above it, silently.

Learning curve: the real one. Most people are airborne within about 20 minutes, but you

will fall a lot in the first ten.

Who it suits: anyone who actively wants to learn something. People who snowboard,

wakeboard or surf tend to take to it fastest, but complete beginners get up routinely.

The catch: it is the one that can frustrate you, and it is the most expensive. If the

person riding wants to be entertained rather than to learn, book the jet ski and save

your money.

What it costs in Ibiza

| | Typical hour | What is included |

|---|---|---|

| Jet ski | €120-180 | Guide, usually zone-restricted |

| Seabob | €100-150 | Unit only, often boat-based |

| eFoil | €190 | Instructor, wetsuit, vest, insurance |

The eFoil price looks the highest until you notice it includes an instructor for the whole

hour. A jet ski hour is you and a machine. An eFoil hour is a lesson.

Our full rates: €190/hour, half day (4h) €650, full day (8h) €1,050

and what those numbers hide is covered in eFoil prices in Ibiza.

Boards run from the Takuma 63Wh up to the Lift Foil P200 and the Jetsurf Race DFI; which one

suits you is in Takuma vs Fliteboard vs Lift.

The one nobody expects to prefer

The pattern we see repeatedly: a group books jet skis for the group and one eFoil "to try",

and by the end of the week the eFoil has been booked three more times and the jet skis

have not been mentioned again.

That is not a sales line — it is the same reason people take up snowboarding and not

banana boats. The thing with a learning curve is the thing you remember.

Which is best for a complete beginner?

Jet ski for guaranteed instant fun. eFoil if the person wants to achieve something. We are

happy to talk you out of the eFoil if the rider is looking to be entertained rather than

taught.

Which is best for kids?

Seabob, comfortably — it is passive, safe and endlessly entertaining in clear water. eFoil

from 12 with a parent present, and weight matters more than age.

Can we do more than one in a day?

Yes, and it is a good way to spend an afternoon. The sensible order is jet ski or Seabob

first and eFoil last, while the water is flattest in the evening.

Do you deliver to a boat?

Yes. All three can be delivered to a yacht or a private beach anywhere around Ibiza and

Formentera. Boat delivery is where the Seabob earns its keep.

Not sure which?

Tell us who is riding and we will tell you honestly which one suits. eFoil from €190/hour.
